Ziva

Meet Ziva, a sweet 9 year old Yorkie mix who recently joined our rescue after being surrendered to a local shelter. Weighing in at around 16 pounds, she’s a little taller and bigger than your typical Yorkie, with a heart to match. While Ziva is an absolute gem of a dog, she came to us suffering greatly and in desperate need of some overdue medical care.

When Ziva first arrived, she was dealing with significant hair loss, dry skin, and a dull coat. She was also sneezing thick green mucus, which led us to discover the root of her discomfort: her mouth. Ziva has severe dental disease, including rotten teeth and extensive gum recession. Most painfully, she has developed an oro-nasal fistula—a hole in her gums that allows food, saliva, and debris to pass into her nasal cavity, causing a persistent infection and making it very difficult for her to eat comfortably. Small senior dogs like Ziva require routine dental maintenance, and it’s clear she went far too long without the care she needed.

Ziva has healed beautifully from her surgery and is now enjoying her new life with softened kibble and, most importantly, a mouth that no longer hurts!

She absolutely loves being outside and would really love a home with a secure backyard where she can wander around, soak up the sunshine and have the occasional zoomie session. But once she's had enough outdoor time she's ready to head inside and resume her professional napping career.

Ziva is looking for a home where she's allowed on the couch, has a comfy bed and a sunny spot to nap, access to a backyard, and a person who is home often.

​

Ziva is very much a "best friend" kind of dog. She wants to be where you are. She wants to hang out with you and simply be part of your day. And after spending so much of her life dealing with painful dental disease, she deserves to know what it's like to be loved, comfortable and truly home.

If you're looking for a little companion who will happily spend her days by your side and her afternoons sleeping in a sunbeam, Ziva might be your girl.
