Roxy
Roxy is a 12.5 year old senior husky who originally came into our care in 2024 after being pulled from Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. Through her microchip, we uncovered a heavy history of being let down by the humans in her past—until we matched her with an incredible adopter named Marge. For two years, Marge loved and treasured Roxy, giving her the home, medical care, and devotion she so deeply deserved.
Tragically, a couple of months ago, Marge passed away. Marge’s sister tried her absolute best to keep Roxy in her home, but the time eventually came where Roxy needed to be surrendered back to us. Without a second thought, we welcomed her back. We want to extend a huge thank you to her original fosters, Sophia and Alex, for opening their doors once again so Roxy could return to a familiar, comforting environment.
Unsurprisingly, this transition has been tough on Roxy. She is confused, grieving, and feeling a bit lost, but she is slowly getting by. The best way we can honor Marge’s memory is to ensure that Roxy’s next step is her absolute final destination. Marge didn't hesitate to open her heart to a senior, large-breed dog with medical needs, and we are searching for another extraordinary home willing to do the same.
At 12.5 years young, Roxy is a sweet, gentle soul. She gets along well with other dogs, and while she used to have a strong prey drive, her senior years have mellowed her out significantly. She is also great with respectful, gentle children who understand her boundaries and know not to climb or jump on her. Due to mobility concerns, Roxy cannot navigate stairs well, so a single-story setup or a home equipped to prioritize her physical comfort is an absolute must.
For now, Roxy is safe, cherished, and resting with her foster family while she heals. We promised Roxy that her next home will be her forever home.
