Buddy
This handsome 5 year old Northern Husky mix has a heart of absolute gold. Weighing in at 68lbs, Buddy was originally a stray on a reservation in Northern Ontario where he was loved and fed by everyone in the community, though he never officially belonged to anyone. Recently, an upcoming community cull meant that any free roaming dogs would face a devastating fate, they would be shot! Because Buddy is such a sweet, trouble free soul, locals made sure he was safely sent into rescue instead.
Buddy has been with Safe Paws for several weeks now, and he has proven to be an incredibly gentle, affectionate, and loyal boy. He is fantastic with children, great with other dogs, and good with cats - he currently lives with all three in his foster home and loves every single one of them!
Buddy's favorite thing in the world is going for car rides. He is a true traveler at heart! In fact, when he's out for walks, if he sees someone leave a car door open, he tries to hop right inside. If you are someone who travels for work or takes regular road trip excursions, Buddy would be the ultimate copilot.
Because Buddy spent his entire life roaming free, he is still adapting to living indoors. He is very respectful and well behaved inside the house and sleeps in his crate at night, but the great outdoors is truly his happy place. He loves to spend a fair amount of time out in the backyard soaking up the nice weather.
His ideal home would be a property with a secure yard and space where he can safely be outside often as he loves the outdoors.
All of Buddy’s vetting has been completed!
