Hunter

Meet Hunter, a sweet, intelligent, and soulful boy who made his way to us at the beginning of the month through the Northern Reach Network after the devastating Northern Ontario wildfires. Now that he’s settled in, he is officially ready to find his forever home!

Hunter brings the absolute best of both worlds with his medium energy level. He loves his daily walks, running around, and exploring outside, but he flips the relaxation switch easily once indoors. He settles down nicely inside, doesn't need a crate overnight, and is completely trustworthy free-roaming—he simply finds a cozy spot and sleeps soundly until morning. When you wake up or walk through the door, he’ll greet you with the most precious soft howl to say hello. He isn't a big barker, just selectively chatty when he wants to express his love.

His dream home would feature a large, fully fenced yard where he can spend hours sniffing every corner and investigating new spots. On leash, he is a pleasant walking companion, though potential adopters should be ready for his strong prey drive when a squirrel or rabbit crosses his path. While he initially tried to slip out open doors, he has calmed down significantly as he’s grown comfortable in his home, though a mindful family who keeps an eye on exits remains important.

Hunter is very sweet, bright, and a remarkably quick learner. Because he can be a little mouthy and nippy when he gets excited during play, he is working on his manners and will thrive with continued positive reinforcement. Prospective adopters should also have a good brush handy, as he is quite a heavy shedder who requires regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and your living room comfortable.

Hunter is truly a special, resilient dog who will bring endless joy, loyalty, and charm to a very lucky family.
